A very simple Diary and Address Book program. I wanted something I could add the odd note for a specific day and a simple address book where I could search for a contact address easily without all the extra fancy features and clutter of many similar programs. This version may not work with Windows XP so I have created a further version for XP above. This may also be true for Windows ME and 2000, though the original (Non XP version) works OK in my copy of Vista and now Windows 7 (64 bit).
Program includes an uninstall facility.
Compressed file size - 883 KB.

When you start the program you get the Diary screen with a calendar showing today's date. The yellow text box below shows any notes for that day and the drop down green box below that gives a summary of all the entries for the month.
To add a note for the highlighted day then just type what you want in the yellow box. It will be saved automatically. To add an entry for another day just click on the day and add your text in the yellow box as before. Use the drop down blue boxes above the calendar to jump to different months and years. Click the Today button to jump back to today. To delete an entry just click on the Delete Entry button. Click on Exit to close the program and Address Book to show your contact list.
On this screen your address list is displayed and the find box is ready to accept something to find. Type what you want to find in the yellow box below the address list and click the Find button or press the Enter key. To search again for the same data, click the Find Next button or press F3 on your keyboard.
To add an entry, type in the green text box and click the Add Entry button or press the Enter key. Highlight an entry in the blue list and click the Delete Entry button to remove one. Double click an entry in the blue list to edit it in the green box. Click the Add Entry button after editing to put it back in the list. Click the Exit button to close the program or the Diary button to return to the diary.
IMPORT AN ADDRESS LIST
You can select this option from the top menu under Options. Most database programs e.g. Microsoft Works, Access, Lotus Approach etc., have a facility to export a database as a text file. Choose this Export option in the menu of the database program and make sure you choose to save your new file as a text delimited file with commas as field separators. Save this file somewhere easy to find but not in the folder for this Diary program. I normally save files like this onto the desktop because it's the top option when you open the save file window.
Next, using this diary program, choose Import An Address List in Options in the top grey menu bar. You will then get a screen with a large yellow text box. Click on the Open A Text File button and using the browse window, look for the text file you just exported from your database program. Highlight it and click Open to load it into the yellow text box. Here you can tidy up the list using the usual text editor facilities including copy, paste, undo etc. These commands can be found by right clicking with your mouse on the yellow text box. At the bottom of the screen is a Remove Inverted Commas button. Some database programs export your list with every phrase enclosed in quotes which can look a bit odd. If you click this button, all those quote marks will be removed. Remember also that it is one entry per line, so if the horizontal scroll bar appears on the yellow box or the text wraps to another line, some of that text to the right might not appear on your list. You could tidy this up by reducing the length of some entries.
Once you are happy with your list click the Save This File button. Please Note this will save this file over your current address book list i.e. any current list will be deleted. If you are not sure that you want to save it yet without checking you are happy to lose your old address list if you had one, right mouse click on the yellow box and choose Select All then Copy. Then move back to the Address Book and do what you need to do. Then when you're ready you can move back to the Import screen and paste your list back into the yellow box, finally choosing Save This File.
